Our work often takes us to unusual places but the Hastings Art and Heritage Trail volunteers are conducting interviews in the sites that have been chosen for the trail, which include a pub, a hairdressers and a unique under ground car park amongst others! The sites have all remained largely unchanged for at least twenty five years, and have been chosen for their atmosphere and fascinating design history by photographic artist Maxine Beuret. Volunteer Zoe interviewed publican Bob Tippler of the Albion Pub and he talked about some of the interesting design features of the Arts and Crafts style interior, including the Scottish themed décor with its tartan panels. I’ve made two trips to Hastings now to support the volunteers on this project with their interviews and I’ve really enjoyed working with them to record the histories of these special places.  Sarah
