“We were very impressed with the Oral History Training provided by Spoken Memoirs. They developed the training to fit the specific needs of the project.”

Training

We run oral history training and workshops for adults as well as primary and secondary schools. We have carried out training in all aspects of oral history interviewing and post interview documentation.  We have developed our own training materials and we are experienced in running training courses for a diverse range of groups with different experience and different needs.

We have worked for many organisations including: The Keep Archive in Brighton, East Sussex Record Office, West Sussex Library Service, the Lewes History Group, Priory School Lewes, BACA in Brighton, the Lewes History Group and the Brighton Toy and Model Museum and the BHT Hastings.

We have developed our own programmes for working with school children and young adults in East and West Sussex.  Our most recent project was developed for Pells C of E School in Lewes, the oldest school in Lewes, which sadly closed down in 2017.  We have also developed on-line learning resources for some of the projects we have worked on.

We tailor our sessions very individually and we can work with you to create the training programme which meets your needs.

Step by step guide

The students really benefited from the project… As one of the students said “It just helps to make history more real”
